About Jenn LaLima
Jennifer’s classes are so often described as refreshing, dynamic, and simply calming. Jennifer is a certified Yoga instructor in various systems, certified Reiki II practitioner, professional tenured NYS educator, writer, and deeply devoted mother to two little ones.
Jennifer's yoga journey began as a deeply contemplative child, long before she had the language to express her passion for self-reflection and personal growth. Now, as an innovative Mindfulness instructor and avid practitioner, Jennifer has found tremendous joy in sharing the deep connection to, and expression of, the authentic Self that can be awakened with practical strategies for everyday life.
As a long-time professional across the spectrum of Education, Multiculturalism, Writing, Mindfulness, and Yoga, Jennifer brings a wide-range of experience and heart-inspired-passion to all of her areas of work and teaching. By combining her passions and skill-sets, Jennifer teaches her wildly creative and beloved programming for The Calm Enthusiast and Mindfulness, on the Upbeat. Her Programs and Refreshing Workshops are taught regularly for children, for adults, workplaces, and private individuals looking to get more out of life, define and achieve goals, and feel more present.
Jennifer loves teaching fun, practical, creative strategies and guided journaling to bring each student’s Self-Curiosity alive! A love of Intrinsic Motivation through Intentional Personal Growth has led Jennifer and so many of her students in the direction of new perspectives and possibilities.
Jennifer holds a B.A. in Print Journalism and Communications,
an M.S. in TESOL Education K-12
Jennifer has worked and practiced in her fields of study for most of her adult life, spending the majority of her career as the lead ENL teacher for the Garden City School District, NY.
Jennifer teaches from a wide-range of methodology, including her extensive experience and training with the Columbia University's Teachers College Reading and Writing Workshop.
Having studied Mindfulness for almost 20 years, she naturally integrated Mindfulness, Education, and Yoga into a beautiful system for her students.
Utilizing Mindfulness had fast results in the classroom. Jennifer began to focus on the great need for Mindfulness to calm the anxiety of ELLs, to increase language acquisition, and to build confidence.
Classes and workshops also focus on utilizing writing for deep expression, achievement of goals, love of culture, and self-knowledge.
